Exploring Spirulina the Superfood

Before you get on me… this post isn’t about makeup or beauty per se but it is about inner beauty which is far more lasting than outer beauty ever could be. It’s about putting good stuff in your system so that your inner radiance is manifested outwardly.  Since I’ve been cycling I’ve been a bit more conscientious on what I feed myself, now don’t get me wrong, I haven’t turned into a super health nut and I do occasionally binge on junk here and there but I’m making more of an effort to eat better. After hearing some really good thing about Spirulina, I decided to make lunch out of it, so I headed on over to my local New Leaf Co-Op Market and ordered a “Spirulina Surpise” smoothie. The particular smoothie is comprised of Pineapple juice, banana, mango, blueberries, strawberries, raspberries and you’ve guessed it SPIRULINA! It’s a tangy fruity pick me up. The blueberries is what gives it its deep purple color and it’s really delicious!

So… you’ve begun reading this post and you’re like…”What’a spirulina?” Well, allow me to educate you for a quick lil’ sec.

Spirulina is a bacteria, a cyanobacteria. Wait whaaaat?! Yup! It is, and it’soften classified as an herb which it’s really not. Spirulina is a blue-green algae found in pristine waters such as rivers, ponds and freshwater lakes. Before you toot your pretty little noses up… know that spirulina is recognized as one of the world most nutritionally completed super foods. So basically it’s health for all your vital organs. (Nods Head)

Spirulina modulates the immune system. It helps you recover quickly from common colds, promotes cell-regeneration and just helps you heal faster. So before you go to poppin’ pills consider what natural made to help you recover first.

If you’re looking to improve your eye health, in addition to carrots, this blue-green underwater algae is very rich in vitamin A, which is essential for healthy eyes.

Wanna know why Spirulina rocks?!  Well… spirulina reduces inflammation and eases PMS symptoms. It contains GLA (Gamma-linolenic acid),one of the most effective anti-inflammatory agents in nature. So before you chew someone’s head off during that time of the month, you might want to go sip on a spirulina smoothie of sorts to ease your cramps and troubled mind.

Suffering from digestive issues? Spirulina helps ease the passage of you built up waste through the digestive track, it also helps if your anemic (low-iron). It’s a good source of protein, gram per gram more than beef, poultry, fish and soybeans.

With all things considered… everything must be kept in moderation.

Spirulina Safety: Beware of Contamination

Spirulina has a record of safety, even at high doses,17 with few reported side effects. However, if harvest from polluted waters, or cultivated incorrectly, it can accumulate toxins from the environment. For this reason, I recommend you avoid spirulina from Japan and nearby waters harvested after March 1, 2011, as they may be contaminated with radiation from the Fukushima nuclear incident. Ideally, only consume organic spirulina from a reputable source that is grown in pollutant-free waters.

If you are going to start on a spirulina regimen, the recommended dosage is 3,000 milligrams (mg) per day for adults, and 500 to 1,500 mg for children, for use as a preventative. For therapeutic use, 10,000 to even 20,000 mg per day is required for adults. However, remember that, in addition to being your powerhouse of essential vitamins and minerals, spirulina is a potent detoxifier. For that reason, it is best to start with a small dose and work your way up. Once you see how your body responds, you can then gradually increase your intake. Again, while side effects are minimal, the most prominent reactions you may experience are:

  • Slight Fever — The high protein content in spirulina increases metabolism, which may elevate your body temperature.
  • Dark Green Waste Matter — Spirulina can remove accumulated waste product in your colon, which may cause darker stool. Also, spirulina is high in chlorophyll. This will also turn waste matter green.
  • Excessive Passing of Gas — This may indicate that your digestive system is not functioning properly or you have an extreme build-up of gas.
  • Feelings of Excitement or Sleepiness — Your body is converting protein into heat energy, which may cause temporary feelings of restlessness. On the other hand, the detoxification process may also cause sleepiness, which may indicate your body is exhausted and needs better rest.
  • Breakouts and Itchy Skin — This is caused by the colon cleansing process and is only temporary.

It’s very likely that your body will go through an adjustment period with spirulina, and your best bet to reduce potential reactions is to start out small and increase your dose gradually to see how your body will react. However, there are some people who seem to be sensitive to spirulina and can’t tolerate it. If you are one of those, it would be wise to avoid spirulina. You might try chlorella, which has similar benefits. Most people can tolerate either chlorella or spirulina.

So… What’s This Cycling All About?!

I got questioned about my new hobby a few weeks ago… It obviously got her attention. Well, this particular individual who I will remain nameless, said that cycling is for “white girls”, WAIT! WHET!?? I asked if she did any form of exercise and she said yeah, she walks to her car. SMH!

The petty part of me wanted to say, “You run your mouth too, so that’s exercise too”, but ya’ll who know me know I’m sweeter than that, so I didn’t say it. [straight face emoji]

Ain’t no fallin’ off here! I believe in order to come against sicknesses and diseases that plague black women and just women in general , you have to be active. You can’t sit around eating junk and not exercising. Faith without works is dead, you have to make healthy changes in your lifestyle in order to see positive results, especially if you are predisposed to hypertension or even diabetes.

I told her, “I took up cycling after a friend of mine Carol shared her passion for it with us and encouraged us to join her. I remember riding my bike from Carol City to Brown Subs one day on a whim, If you’re from Miami, then you know how far of a distance that is. The ride was amazing and scary at the same time. I got chased by a few stray dogs, almost got hit by a car and I thugged it without a helmet. The ride back was even more of an adventure. Cycling has been a great form of cardio for me, I have a busy 2 year old to keep up with and I can’t be tired every time she wants me to get in her bounce house with her. Also, I hate gyms… the germs, the sweat on the equipment and the dudes who always wanna assist you just because. No Sir! You can’t have my number! I’m Gucci!! It’s much more motivating to get on the trail with a group of ladies and before you know it, you’ve done 10 miles easy peezy! I’ve since purchased my 2nd bike. The first one is a Hybrib (Mountain bike/ Road Bike combo), my newest bike is a GMC Denali 700c Road Bike and I love her! She’s much lighter and faster than my hybrid. We track our progress through an app called MapMyRide. To date, I’ve ridden 111.2 miles. I’ve started seeing changes in my stamina, weight, muscle tone and overall energy. On rainy and cold days, I’m sad because I can’t ride. This hobby has become a part of my lifestyle. Thanks Carol, she’s our SHERO!

new bike.jpg

We’ve since started a Black Girls Do Bike chapter in Tallahassee. There’s a national website with chapters all over the U.S. There might even be a chapter in your city. If you see us riding, just honk or wave!

“It’s like a pep rally for black girls on bikes!BGDB PINK DOODLE SS.jpg

Blackgirlsdobike.com’s interest is in growing and supporting a community of women of color who share a passion for cycling. We champion efforts to introduce the joy of cycling to all women, but especially, black women and girls. We are establishing a comfortable place where female cyclist can support, advise, organize meet-ups/rides and promote skill-sharing. We look to share positive images of ladies and their bikes to affirm the truth that black girls do indeed bike! We support bike advocacy, education, volunteerism and safety in all communities and corners of the world.” -BGDB Website

We’re riding and training for the June 2016 BGDB National Ride/Meet-up in Atlanta where we will bust down 30, 60 and 100 miles. Who’s down to ride?

The gears are spinning at the Always Radiant Everyday camp!

The new year has already started off with a BANG! I’ve been eating up the pavement as I’ve taken on road cycling as a new hobby!  I’ve blog about the journey in another post soon. Business-wise, my planner /scribble -pad is about to fall apart but thank God for all the clients that are rollin’ in. What a blessing! I’m still responding back to email offers to partner with companies to become a brand ambassador for their new products. WooHOO! I’m still working out the kinks and there will be some great things in store and of course more GIVEAWAYS!! I love giving away great products to my loyal followers.

I’ve already purchased my ticket to attend the Orland0 2016 Makeup Show that’s happening at the end of January so stay tuned for haul videos, pics and posts. I’ll most likely jump on PeriScope: @AlwaysRadiante or SnapChat: @MillionheiressJ to share some of the activity for that event so make sure you’re following.  If you’re going, I’d love to meet you in person!

On another note, I’m a bit sad that I had to cancel my trip to Los Angeles to attend the 2016 IMATS but I thought it would be more cost effective to ditch the L.A. trip to attend the Makeup Show then catch another IMATS show later in the year or even in 2017. It hurt me to the core bit HEY, there will be other shows. *POUTS* I was looking forward to the CALIFORNIA breeze!

I’m excited for what’s in store for my brand/company. I look forward to working with some pretty amazing creatives in the coming months and hopefully this year I will designate some time for my own photo shoot. I’m a tad bit behind with my YouTube videos because I’ve been super busy but I’ll try to squeeze in a few for you all.

I want to thank you all for rocking with me and following my blog and social media platforms, I truly appreciate you guys.

PRODUCT REVIEW | Eco Curl N’ Styling Cocktail

When you’re a natural curly head like myself, the products you put in you hair can make or break the overall look of your hair. I’ve had my share of bad hair days from mixing product that didn’t quite work well together. I like to keep things simple as it pertains to my hair. I was once a hair product junkie that bought everything someone ranted and raved about. It started to get rather expensive and I found that I would start using a product and would never finish it, thus running out of space under my sink to store all these products I was hoarding. I’ve gotten better ya’ll. I’m not 100% delivered but I’ve gotten better. I stick to what works which is my trusty Argan Oil Eco Styler Gel, Virgin Coconut Oil and my spray bottle filled with water.

Okay, so on a Dollar General run I saw the Eco Curl N’ Styling Cocktail. I’m an avid Eco Styler Gel user… the Argan Oil one ONLY. I just don’t put it all over my hair because I rarely do wash n’ go sets and it has a stronger hold and I don’t want my hair too hard. I purchased the Eco Curl N’ Styling Cocktail for about $4.50. Here’s what to look for if you’re interested in getting some for yourself.

It claims to be great for all hair types, can be used on wet or dry hair with a light hold, it’s alcohol, sulfate and paraben-free (We naturalistas love when products are free from harsh chemicals), it defines curls and coils without the flakiness and weighed down build up. I can dig it, but does it work?

What’s in it?

  • Ingredients: Water (Aqua), Emulsifying Wax, PVP, Glycerin, Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Peel Oil, Euterpe Oleracea (Acai) Fruit Oil, Collagen Amino Acids, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Ricinodendron Rautanenii (Mongongo) Oil, Argania Spinosa (Argan) Oil, Limnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil, Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Sodium Hydroxymethylglycinate, Carbomer, Fragrance (Parfum), Aminomethyl propanol, Tetrasodium EDTA

This is a water based product and it contain glycerin which is a humectant. Humectants draw moisture from the air. You can even re-freshen the hairstyle by just spraying water on the hair since this product is a water based.

Well, I used it and here’s what I like…

  • It defines the heck outta your hair which is a plus
  • It leaves your hair light and soft
  • It has a light hold so it doesn’t make your hair crunchy
  • It has a pleasant, non-overbearing scent, kinda smells like fruits
  • Dries without a white residue

Will I buy it again? Yes! I’ll also be using it on my daughter’s hair as well. Here are some pics of what my hair looked like after I used it.

If you’re looking to tame your mane, this might be it! I bet it would be pretty amazing if done on a twist out. I might try that method in the coming days. I love fleeky hair! Don’t take my word for it… do your research, read over some reviews, then try it for yourself. If you like it, come back to my site and leave me a comment and let me know how it went. I’d love to hear from you. Until next time…

What’s In The Bag ? | Ipsy November 2015 Glam Bag

Whoop! My Ipsy Glam bag for November 2015 arrived! This bag features fellow MUA, @Chrisspy & @DesiMakeupLove on the postcard. These two gals, I follow. I love @Chrisspy on IG and Youtube, she’s the bomb! Ya’ll go check them out.

Aight, So the glam goodies arrived in this cute galaxy-looking bag! I can dig it! Lets get the deets on what’s inside (counterclockwise):

ABSOLUTE NEW YORK’S NANO LINER | Ultra-fine precision liquid eyeliner, water-resistant in black.

This one is a definite keeper. I love myself a good precision waterproof liquid eye liner and this one ROCKS! It come as a sharp felt tip pen packed with juice! as soon as it touches your skin, it delivers!

TreStique Mini Matte Lip Crayon in Florence Fig

It’s cute, it’s mini, it’s matte, but it has no staying power at all. This is one of those products I pass on to one of my friend’s teenage daughters because the color does not last on your lips after a few sips of coffee. The rose color is nice though but I’m good on that. I did say it was cute though, right?

This one is a keeper! This a a great volumizing, lengthening and curling mascara. Perfect for travel. The one issue I have with this is that IT IS NOT WATERPROOF and a sistah needs H2O-proof eye products that do NOT smear! The full size retails at $20.

This product is suppose to be a humidity-proof holding spray. I don’t use holding sprays on my mane, and if I did, I’d only use my trusty Pump It Up Spritz, so I’ll most likely be passing this product along to one of my beautiful Caucasian gal pals. The full-size in 3.3oz retails at $19.95.

Model Co. Highlighting Trio | Champagne, Peach Bellini & Bronze

I was gonna give this product a thumbs down. I sure was! until I actually put a little on my face and I was like Oooo! Okay! This product is super soft like creamy butter souffle goodness. It blends like WHOA! It’s a keeper for my personal kit when I want that sun-kissed glow.

Model Co.jpg

Well, that’s all  have for you ladies today. This bag was mediocre, in my opinion and I’m only keeping 3 of the 5 products. If you like Ipsy, its only $10 per month and you too can get your own Glam Bags in the mail.

Thanks for reading! xoxo!

************U P D A T E**************

One of my fellow blogger friends, MakeupBySehar  just sent me an email warning me not to subscribe to LipMonthly because she has a terrible experience with them. She even directed me to her blog post where she has reviewed and detailed her experience in dealing with the company and it was not good at all. After reading her blog post, I’ve decided that I will CANCEL my subscription and let you all know why. I would never want to put you all in connection with a company whose customer service etiquette is janky. So before it gets started, let nip it in the bud NOW! If you’ve subscribed to LipMonthly from reading my previous post, please cancel or keep the subscription at your own risk. Maybe you’ll have better luck. I just choose to use my better judgment and send my coinage elsewhere! Unfortunately, the Lets Talk Lippie segment will be postponed, sorry ladies! We beauty gals stick together and when we catch wind of fraud within a company, it spreads like a wild fire. Lipstick Monthly…please do better!~

Read Sehar’s experience with LipMonthly here: http://makeupbysehar.com/2015/11/13/lipmonthly-review-and-opinion-boycottlipmonthly/

Ugghhh ya’ll know I love a good beauty subscription box! I’ve subscribed to several in the past. I was browsing Facebook and my eyes stumbled upon the LipMonthly ad. *raises eyebrows* I’ve never heard of this one before and it’s not even new, have I been under a rock?

So here’s the scoop,  I’ve already attached myself to it and I am now subscribed and eagerly awaiting my 1st bag.

Every month you’ll get a bag containing 4-5 lip products such as lip balms, lip glosses, lipsticks and lip stains in their full retail size. No samples! That’s a definite plus and a great way to build your lippie collection. When I enrolled this morning, I’ll get my first December 2015 bag for only $5 because I used the coupon code: LIPLOVER *You can use the same coupon code to get the same deal.*  I chose the $12.95 monthly option every month. They have other payment options as well and you can cancel at anytime. I like the freedom to cancel when I want to in the event that I want my ‘coinage’ to go elsewhere.

I like that I will be able to review and give away lippies. I love blessing ya’ll with stuff!

Check out Sarah Terese’s LipMonthly’s video to get a feel for what it’s all about: (If you’re reading this post from your mobile device and you don’t see the video, click this post’s title link above to be redirected.)

Can I speak to your self esteem for a minute?

Hey girl hey!

I just wanted to encourage you today and speak to your self esteem. Sometimes what we see in mass media and pop culture will make us feel like we are less than. As if being exactly how God created you isn’t ideal. You are beautiful. You are enough! You are fearfully and wondefully made by the creator himself. God doesn’t make mistakes. He knew exactly what he was doing when he hand crafted you in your mother’s womb. You are not an accident. Hold your head up, straighten up those shoulder and look at yourself in the mirror and say, “Hey you! You’re beautiful!” You are a masterpiece and if anyone speaks differently, brush them off and leave them in the dust! Keep on walking it out with your great self. Yea, I’m talking to you!

Xoxo, Always Radiant Everyday

Review: Poo-Pourri: The Before-You-Go Toilet Spray

Today’s blog post will be a lifestyle and etiquette post of sorts. A coworker put me on to this nifty lil spray after we had several run-ins with the horrible stench in the ladies restroom at work. Ewwww! Obviously, someone went to El Jalisco’s for lunch. (a Mexican restaurant here in town). It’s Poo-Pourri: The Before-You-Go Toilet Spray!

I think this courteous little spray is a must have for every woman, shoot, men too! especially MEN!!! No shade, just saying! Save everyone’s nose and save yourself the embarrassment by anointing the environment with a pleasant scent.

I found this at my local Ulta and snagged it for myself. Don’t act like you’ve never done a Number 2 at work or in a public restroom. Hey, sometimes nature calls and you gotta go!

I purchased the Vanilla Mint & Citrus scented one for $10. It smells GREAT! There are several different sprays available with lil cute names such as: Call of the Wild, Deja-Poo, and even Poo La La just to name a few.

It’s pretty simple to use, you just spritz about 3-5 sprays into the toilet before you do your No. 2 and it creates a film on the surface of the toilet water and it traps odor under the surface of the water and releases the natural essential oils in the spray. Talk about a bouquet coming from the toilet and when you flush, it fills the stall with a nose-friendly aromatic scent.

There’s No harsh chemicals, No synthetic fragrance like those other bathroom fragrance sprays, No alcohol, No aerosol, No parabens, No phthalates, and No formaldehyde. So it’s safe to breathe in.

Go get yourself some! It fits in your purse and even in your pocket. It’s just plain good etiquette! Leave flowers behind, your behind! : )

Ready. SET. GO! The skinny on Sacha’s Buttercup Setting Powder

I said I wasn’t gonna buy this. I told myself I wasn’t but when you see these 4 to 5 star rating online and people in the makeup group on Facebook keep blabbering about it, it’s easy to fall in the “do as the romans do” and I’m not easy persuaded, but they got me!

I have like every setting powder from translucent to super white and all the variations in between. I didn’t really need another one. I really didn’t, so I am blaming all of you beauty-lovin’ ladies in that makeup group for coercing me into this transaction!

I purchased mine off Amazon. It retails at $20-25 depending on where you look and your patience level. This shipped Amazon Prime, so I got it at my door in 2 days. Go Go Gadget Super Ship!

It comes with a sifter top, Ughhh! Super messy.

sacha sifter

I currently use Ben Nye’s Luxury Powder in Banana mixed with Topaz to get the highlight shade of my choice. With Sacha Buttercup, I don’t even need to mix so that’s a PLUS!

Sacha is finely milled, did I say that already? It’s like confectioner’s sugar…nope it doesn’t taste like it just feels velvety and smooth. I like the texture.

Sacha palm

This is a great under eye setting powder. It blends like a dream. It leaves NO white cast better known as FLASHBACK when you take pictures. Flashback is not good, that is why you have to use products that work well under photography flash. As a daughter of a photographer and a freelance photographer myself, I always test shoot my work to make sure I’ve blended out well and to watch for the dreaded flashback. Sorry Eva & Taraji, I have to use you two as an example of what flashback is. it’s when your concelaer and highlight powder is all wrong, improperly blended or just not the right products for the under eye area.

Also, you don’t want to have to result to black and white filters to disguise flashback photos. Side note… I love filters and black and white photography, not to hide imperfections but because I love photo options when editing photos. True creatives understand. I disgress…movin’ on!

This setting powder is ideal for brown skin and dark skin complexions. It hasn’t settled into my fine lines yet and that could be because I prep and prime my face really well before I apply my foundation and concealer so by the time I get to setting my highlighted areas I’m smooth and fine line free!

If you are new to setting powders or don’t even know how to use them, there are several beauty youtubers who use them well. Yes, you can learn a lot from watching Youtube. There are good habits and bad habits everywhere so don’t let folk make you feel like you can’t glean from Youtube because you certainly can and it’s free. I’m professional and I still get my free educational beauty tips from the Youtube. There’s some great information out there.

I’ll continue using this product. I might just transfer some of it to another container since I’m not a fan of that stupid sifter thingy. Other than that, it’s a GO in my book!

So what setting powders do you use? How do you use them? I’d love to hear feedback from you all on what works for you.

Thanks for tuning in…

REVIEW: Black Radiance Perfect Tone Lipsticks

It’s FALL ya’ll. It’s that time of the year where you put your bright colors to rest and snuggle up to the nice warm earthy tones. I’ve started that with a lil’ personal lippie shopping by adding these two new fall-friendly colors to my makeup bag. They are none other than Black Radiance’s Perfect Tone lip Colors in L: Panther and R: Copper Glow.

First off, let me say how much I really like Black Radiance cosmetics and no not because it resembles my moniker. I really like that their cosmetics are definitely for women of color and the price point is super affordable. these lipstick range anywhere from $1.99 to $2.50 depending on where you find them. In my case, I found them at my local CVS. Keep in mind that every CVS or other drugstore chain doesn’t always carry the Black Radiance brand so you kinda have to look around. I actually own quite a few of their lippies and have incorporated them in my kit because I love how they look on myself and my clients.

Okay, lets talk about these two since they are the star in the show! IMG_0045IMG_0048

Panther is a creamy garnet (burgundy) color and Copper Glow is a creamy brown color.

They go on smooth and opaque, they do transfer so you might want to be careful when hugging or kissing folks on the cheeks, you will leave you signature lips on them! They are moisturizing simply because they contain vitamins A & E. They are gluten free and Black Radiance do not test their products on animals so that’s always a PLUS! You can use them with or without a lip liner. I always prefer to use a lip liner on my lips to prevent my lipsticks from bleeding past my lip lines. I like for everything to stay right where I put it!

Here are some snaps of me rocking the lip colors you see above. Yep, I mixed the two together, I call it my “Fall Copper Panther Glow”  I’m ready for this Fall season! I hope ya like!  Thanks for reading! Ciao!

Those stagnant people without a drive who seem to have negative things to say when you submit an idea their way, or seem to always want to discuss the personal and or private affairs of others…run far away from those people because! How I stumbled upon a MAC Ruby Woo DUPE!!!

Yup! Ruby Woo has a twin… let me tell you how I stumbled upon it! A few weeks ago I had ordered some Jordana foundations from an eBay seller and they got my order totally wrong by sending me 6 shades of Jordana’s Modern Matte lipsticks instead. A lil’ pissed, yes! I had never tried these lipsticks and wasn’t even interested in them because they simply were NOT what I initially ordered. I emailed the seller and informed them of the mix up and I waited a couple of hours for her to reply back. Meanwhile, I opened the six shades of Jordana lipsticks I was sent and swatched them all on the back of my hand. They weren’t mine essentially and I was hoping that she wouldn’t want me to send them back because I was not about to pay postage fees for their screw up.

Anyhoo, as I continued to swatch, I started to fall in love with the mistakenly sent lippies. Was this really a mix up did God just bless ya girl? I’ll go with the latter, because when I got to the matte red shade, I shouted, “RUBY WOOOOOO”! I had to smell it because I’m funny like that and I don’t like lippies that smell like yuck, especially if myself or my clients will be wearing them right up under our noses for hours. If you are a MAC wearer you might notice that MAC lip products has a very sweet distinct scent. I told you, I’m funny like that so I do smell stuff. LOL! These Jordana lipsticks smell just like MAC Lippies. *Side eye* I might have to do some investigations because we all know that every high end product had a lower end twin floating around out there in the world and it’s really up to the consumer to find these jewels. Hmmmph! Well, I found ya baby!

You’re probably reading this and you’re like, “Rae, why are you so excited about this?” Well, I’m excited becauuuuse, my tube of Ruby Woo is on its last freakin’ leg, because it broke and i’m just about out (see pic below). Sure… I can buy another one with my MAC Pro discount but why when there’s a Ruby Woo twin sister for $2.49? And sure I love MAC, support them 100% and I throw my coinage at them regularly but I don’t feel like spending close to $15 for a tube of lipstick + shipping and handling fees and then I have to sit and wait days for the lil’ black MAC box to hit my porch. Nah, I’m opting for the cheap route. IMG_9394

Kudos to the warehouse dude who messed up my original Jordana order and sent me these lippies! Thanks! I love the other shades and I’ll probably blurb about them in a Youtube favorites video later because the shine goes to Jordana’s Modern Matte Lipstick in 12 Matte Style aka Ruby Woo’s twin!

Here’s the skinny… Jordana’s Modern Matte has the the same color pay off as MAC’s Ruby Woo, similar, if not same scent, both are matte red colors. I’ve always though Ruby Woo was a but drying on my lips and I’ve heard the same from other MUAs and MAC enthusiasts so with any matte lippie, I recommend the use of a lip balm first just to create a barrier between the lipstick and your lips, just to keep them moisturized. Just as MAC’s Ruby Woo is a tad bit staining to the lips, so is Jordana’s lipstick. I have nothing negative to say. They are certainly relative dupes. I will not by ordering another Ruby Woo is the present future… thanks JORDANA! HA!

Here are my swatches (L: is Jordana Modern Matte in 12 Matte Style & R: is MAC’s Ruby Woo)

Let’s just say, I’ll be ordering more!

If you”re interested in this Jordana lipstick or want to check out the others you view them on http://www.jordanacosmetics.com or visit Amazon and eBay for deals.

Review | How I got whiter teeth at home with Smile Brilliant

Who doesn’t want whiter teeth? I know I do and I was thrilled when I was contacted by a Representative over at Smile Brilliant! She wanted to know if I was interested in collaborating with their company by reviewing their teeth whitening system and sharing my review on my social media platforms. Uhhhh yea! I smile, I take selfies, I want a whiter, prettier smile. So this was a go for me and I agreed and here we are today! I’ve tried teeth whitening in the past and was unsuccessful simply because they process was messy, the mouth trays were humongous and they didn’t have something to assist with tooth sensitivity.  As an avid coffee and tea drinker, I deal with a little staining for over indulging every morning with my needed dose of caffeine. I’ve been using Smile Brilliant over the past month or so and I love it. Here’s why:

First off, this is a custom teeth whitening system. The one that I’ve tried in the past was not because they didn’t allow you have custom fitted trays that only fit YOUR teeth. Smile Brilliant does! You create impressions of your upper and lower teeth and send those impressions back the Smile Brilliant lab and within a week or so, they send you the cast mold of your teeth as well as your custom fitted trays in a black case so that you can get a precise whitening application. This kit comes equipped with several Teeth Whitening Gel syringes, Desensitizing Gel syringes, the instruction pamphlet, Catalyst and Base Paste putty to create your impressions, Impression trays, and a return envelope to send our impressions back. They have Desensitizing gel!!! So when you feel a lil’ tooth sensitivity you can apply this sweet tasting gel to the trays and it will knock the sensitivity right on out!

This is an at-home professional grade teeth whitening kit, with 22%  Carbamide Peroxide (the active ingredient that tells the stains to go away!) you can pay any where from $500 for more at your dentist for a kit like this, but Smile Brilliant has it for the low low and you can save money and make a lasting impression like I did and I’m still using it!

Peep my video review below!

NEW | Makeup Forever’s Artist Plexi-Gloss

We all know that fads come and go in the wounder world of beauty. Some fads double back and reinvent themselves under a new guise when a celeb or someone of notable mention coins a certain look. Lately, in the world of lippies, there’s been a constant trend with liquid lipsticks. Liquid lipstick are just what they sound like, highly pigmented lip colors that can give you a lasting finish of satin or even matte if you don’t like the look of sheen to your overall lip color.

The matte lippie craze is awesome if I might say so myself. I enjoy matte lipsticks as I’m someone who enjoys wearing MAC’s Ruby Woo and even L.A. Girl’s Matte Glosses. After browsing a popular makeup forum, I came across a set of lippies that were like wow!

Okay, here they are! Its Makeup Forever’s Artist Plexi-Glosses! The were released in MUFE’s, “BE BOLD. BE UNEXPECTED. BE YOU.” campaign, which encourages everyone, everywhere to redefine beauty, explore, and celebrate the freedom of self-expression. The campaign launched on July 16th, and will included in-store activations and events at Sephora where they showcased the new Ultra HD Foundations, Eyeshadow palette and they showcased this collection of glosses, that were originally released in May of 2015. There are 35 full range colors in the collection. They retail at $19 and you get them from the Makeup Forever website and from Sephora.

The wow factor is that these glosses are WET! According to MUFE, they claim to be, a triple-impact lip gloss with buildable color and high-shine that stays put. Artist Plexi-Gloss’s wide array ranges from pearly and non-pearly finishes to sheer and opaque colors. The SuperFlex Applicator ensures precision and control, delivering just the right amount with its small split-tip dose applicator. The uniquely contoured tip is shaped to comfortably hug the lip, evenly distributing color.

Do you see that shine! I’m interested in seeing how these glosses work on myself and clients. However i’m wondering if they are sticky and really have that 5-hour staying power considering that I don’t eat or drink for a solid 5 hours. Probably not!

I’ll most likely pick up one in the coming weekend for testing and review and i’ll share the results with you all in another post.

Check you then! Ciao!

NEW | MAC Powder Blushes

New MAC Blushes 2015

New MAC Blushes 2015

MAC released an arsenal of new blushes and the beauties have already began swatching, reviewing  and sharing them with the world. Most of the MAC Powder Blush shades are new while a few are resurrected from the past. Thanks to beauty blogger Temptalia for keeping us ever-informed about the latest and greatest!

Here are the shade names and descriptions:

  • Burnt Pepper – a warm rich terracotta (Matte)
  • Devil  – a right coral orange (Satin)
  • Film Noir – a rich warm chocolate (Matte)
  • Frankly Scarlet  – a vivid rose-red (Matte)
  • Full Fuchsia – a bright intense fuchsia (Frost)
  • Pinch O’ Peach – a peachy pink (Satin)
  • Pink Swoon – a soft candy pink (Satin)
  • Sketch – a rich plum (Matte)
  • Swiss Chocolate – a soft cocoa (Matte)

MAC’s Powder Blushes retail at $21.00 and they are now available at online and at MAC locations.

I’ve had my eye one blush in particular and its the one called, “Swiss Chocolate”, and I recently placed an order for it on the MAC Pro site and I’ll be at the mailbox like an excited little kid waiting it arrival. I tend gravitate to beauty product that are multi-purpose and Swiss, according to reviews can be used more than one way. “Swiss Chocolate” can be used as a blush, transition/ crease color for your eyes and it can serve as a transition/contour color for your face. *Can’t get more multi-purpose than that, eh?* When it arrives, I’ll most likely paint my face and take a plethora of pictures showing you all how I use it so stay tuned for that.

Have you seen, swatched and/or purchased any of these blushes for yourself? If so, do tell!  Until we meet again! ❤

Review | LA Girl Matte Flat Finish Pigment Gloss

The matte gloss craze has taken over and of course, yours truly had jumped aboard the I love matte ship. I purchased one of the LA Girl Matte lip glosses when I visited the Orlando Premiere Beauty Show earlier this year. The shade that I purchased was Black Currant, which is this deep purple vampy shade and I instantly fell in love.

First off, I applied this with no lip liner and you really do not need one with this product in my opinion, simply because the product stays put and it does not bleed past your lip line. The application was smooth and creamy and they dry to a flat matte finish. They are very pigmented and full coverage on the lips. I began researching the line and discovered that they cost $5 on the LA Girl website. I know I wanted all the shades but not at the $80 price point for all 16 shades, so I went over to eBay and Amazon to see what deals I could get. I ended up saving $30 and got the entire collection of all 16 shades for $50 + free shipping.

I will say this… Once they are on your lips and dry, they do not transfer and when you want to remove them, you are going to have to use a very good makeup remover to get them off, the staying power is amazing and you’ll get a little lip staining. My recommendations would be to apply a lip balm or lip primer on your lips first then apply them to your lips. The red color in “frisky” is almost a dupe for MAC’s Ruby Woo! Yup, I said it, and you know, I love myself some Ruby Woo!!!! I did swatches of the glosses for your viewing pleasure, you can watch them in my Youtube video embedded below:

Make sure to rate, comment and subscribe to my Youtube channel and tell me what you think of these glosses if you’ve tried them for yourself.

July 2015| Ipsy Glam Bag

Yep! I opened my mailbox and my July 2015 Ipsy Glam Bag made its way to my mailbox! Ipsy and their sweet pink packaging just makes me happy every month! Peep the manicured lawn in the background! I came home to that surprise too because our lawn guy came by while I was at work and cut from front and back yard! I love when the lawn looks good!

This month’s theme is Summer Lovin’!

I’m loving this Aztec printed glam bag. It’s a zippered pouch and great to reuse for loose coins or even as a small toiletry bag. Usually end up using these bags to store feminine products such as panty liners or lipsticks. I have learned not to keep loose tubes of lipsticks in my purse because somehow the tops come off and I either ruin the lipstick or my bag, so these glam bags do serve as multi-purpose.IMG_7274

Here’s what came in my Ipsy Glam Bag for July 2015 (from L to R):

Octavio Molina | La Playa Sea Salt Spray :Infused with Algae Extract, this salt spray uses the richness of the sea to create texture+volume. ($15.50 for full size bottle)

VASANTI | Brighten Up! Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator : A Powerful Scrub that Brightens, Exfoliates and Cleanses Gently with Instant Results for Soft, Smooth and Radiant Skin. It is enriched with Papaya Micro-crysyals and Aloe. ($34.00 for full-sized bottle)

Sidenote: I need to seriously swap this product out with someone because I don’t think I want sea salt beach hair!

A U R O R A | Gel Effect Nail Lacquer in the color ‘Alarm Fire‘  NO UV NEEDED! (8.99)

Be a…BOMBSHELL Lip Balm in the color ‘Ruby$(14.00)

Tarte Park Avenue Princess Matte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Bronzer. ($30.00)

Maybe you need a little GINGER in your life!

….and NO! Not the Ginger from Gilligan’s Island. You youngins might be too young to remember that show anyway!

Let’s talk about ginger! I’m a big fan of this spicy lil’ brown root. I’ve grown to love ginger, growing up in Miami, Florida where I was surrounded by a host of different ethnic groups and cooking styles. I’ve grown to love and accept this root in everyday living whether it be for culinary or medicinal purposes. I can remember being sick with a flu and my mother would slice up ginger root, lemons and add honey to boiling water and make a tea, I’d drink it and soon began to feel better. I also remember demolishing a bag as spicy ginger cookies, you know that big brown bag that they came packaged in. Back when I was able to drink regular milk, I use to eat ginger snaps with milk all the time. I carried the same love for ginger with me throughout the years and I’ve even used organic ginger during my pregnancy.

So where does this lil’ weird, horn shaped root come from you ask? Well, Ginger is indigenous to Southeastern Asia but it’s usage has spread far out to countries such as China, Japan, South Africa and the Caribbean. If you’ve ever eating at a Thai, Japanese or Indian restaurant you might have seen cuisines that use ginger in them or even grated into a dressing and put over a salad (similar to what’s pictured below.)

Ginger produces a hot kick to it, similar to the spice of cinnamon when you eat it in its raw form. Ginger may be put off to some of you who particular don’t care for pungent spicy foods. My husband likes a little kick to his food but he certainly doesn’t like raw ginger at all. If you drink “Ginger ale” and like it then you may possibly like raw ginger too. For you sushi lovers, if you’ve ever seen that light pink or light yellow picked pile of in the corner of your Sashimi or Nigiri meal when you’ve order sushi, that’s GINGER! It’s there as a palette cleanser, so if you’re eating different kinds of sushi entrees, you’re suppose to eat the ginger in between to cleanse your palette before the switch. (Pictured below is pickled ginger).

Ginger has beneficial medicinal uses as well. Earlier in this post I mentioned that I used ginger during my pregnancy. Well, Ginger is known to be safe and effective in easing morning sickness symptoms such as nausea & vomiting, motion sickness and seasickness. I went to Fresh Market during my pregnancy months and bought candied ginger and I would chew on it until my morning sickness went away and it really worked. One of the main reasons I use ginger is for stomach aches or to help me digest hearty meals that do a one two kick on my stomach.  It really does wonders for soothing stomach aches and gastrointestinal issues, such as the infamous bubble guts that we all hate! Just rinse them very well, peel the skin off if you can, slice them up and boil them in some water so that you release all of the juices from them and drink the concoction you’ve just brewed. You can drink it hot or cold but don’t forget to add little honey or sugar to it and be prepared for a lil’ spice once you drink it.

Ginger as has very potent anti-inflammatory properties to it called gingerols. It’s believed that individuals who suffer from rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis experience a significant decrease in their pain levels and improvements in their daily mobility when they consume ginger on a regular basis. Its also been said that ginger consumption has been known to alleviate symptoms of associated with colorectal cancer, cell death of ovarian cancer cells, and even boosting immune health- which is why I remember feeling better after mommy dearest made those spicy ginger hot totties for me when I was younger.

Whatever ginger is said to do for your health, I do recommend that you do your own research and not just take my word for it.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this post! The next time your feeling blah from nausea or have the Bee Gees (sort for Bubble Guts), don’t run right to Pepto Bismol, try some Ginger instead. If you like ginger and are open to trying it, Pinterest has some pretty awesome culinary recipes and medicinal remedies that you might love. Thanks for reading and subscribing! See you in the next post!

Designer Spotlight| Marie James Custom Handmade Clutches

Just in time for the 4th of July! My Marie James clutch arrived in the mail. Let me give you a little insight on Marie James just in case you haven’t heard. The seamstress behind this and other hand crafted clutch hand bags is a young lady by the name of Mrs. Michele Wallace. She’s a native of Miami, Florida but currently based in Atlanta, Georgia. She’s wife, mother of two, designer and an entrepreneur full of vision and a whole lot of style. I actually know her because we went to college together and it’s great to see women evolving and finding their niche out here in this world. I’m a fan of women who are creative and demonstrate passion behind their craft. I remember when she first began making hand bags and I have had the wonderful opportunity of watching her business grow and I am proud of her consistency in the industry of handbag designing. I don’t like comparing folks but she reminds me of Betsey Johnson in a sense because she utilizes lots of color a quirk in her handbag designs and her personal style is fun and quirky as well.

A little back story on the brand… Marie James is a combination of her grandparent’s names Marie & James Fullington in which she is honoring my naming her hand bag line after them. She’s a self-taught seamstress, so imagine all the trial and error that goes behind perfecting this craft and getting it right and she certainly has. She has goals of making Marie James an actual boutique store where you can purchase one of a kind hand crafted handbags and accessories to add a lil’ flavor to your look. She also does custom and wholesale orders so if you own a boutique and would like to feature her line in your store or you just have a favorite fabric pattern, she can make a handbag to suit your fancy.

Okay… here’s the bag I ordered! It’s the Fireworks! Burlap Envelope style clutch hand made with 100% Burlap on the exterior with a Cotton & Faux Leather interior. It’s very sturdy and made with good quality. You can tell that she’s passionate about her collection by the craftsmanship of this bag.  It retails on her online store for $45. You have got to get yourself on over to the site and order one for yourself. Tell her Always Radiant sent you! : )

Radiant’s Primer Picks for Oily Skin

Being flawless takes a little more effort than we thought!

Today’s post is dedicated  to you oil slicks out there! Don’t fret! We’re all in this together! I’m an oily girl and proud of it! Wait! That didn’t sound right! What I meant was…I have oily/combination skin. My skin tends to be oily and dry in some spots in the fall/winter months and in the spring/summer months I’m super oily all over. It’s like a gift and a curse because the oilier your skin is, the more youthful your skin tends to be, says us Estheticians. There may be some truth in that because I don’t look a day over 21! *teehee* Good genes eh?!

Anyhoo… if you are an oily girl like myself and a makeup wearer you should definitely be using some sort of primer on your skin before your makeup application. Who paints a car or even walls without priming the surface first? With that same concept in mind, you must cleanse, moisturize and prime your skin before any makeup application. I say that because primers contain polymers and waxes that allow your makeup to glide on flawlessly because the primer creates a barrier that fills in lines and pores and it also creates a bond for your makeup to adhere to and last all day. Try putting on your favorite foundation without a primer in this humid summer heat and you can betcha bottom dollar that it”ll slide right off your face by dawn. I’ll wait….! *crickets* Okay… let’s move on….

I personally tend to look for primers that contain the ingredient silica aka silicone dioxide, because silica controls the shine and serves an an anti-caking agent. I don’t discriminate on primers based on brand and price because the cheaper products have been known to supersede the high end priciest ones. For me, it’s all based on trial and error and how the final makeup application looks after a full 5-8 hours of wear. The most important thing is to find a product that goes with your skin type. If you have oily skin you may want to stick to products that state the following: Poreless/Pore-minimizing,Oil-free, Hypoallergenic, & Matte/Mattifying. It can be a bit of trial and error starting off but when you find something that works for you, stick with it.

Below is a list of some primers for oily skin types that I really like, and don’t be shocked by the last primer! It’s really for your Hoo-Haa if you catch my drift but we Makeup Artist all over the globe use it as a primer and it does what it does so don’t you dare toot your nose up and rule it out until you’ve tried it for yourself. If you’ve used any of these products leave a comment and tell me what you like or don’t like about it. If you are an oily girl, pick one and give it a try. You might just find your holy grail primer in this list!

JORD | Wood Watches | A Review

Today was an exceptionally great day and an even better evening because I came home to find a package in the mailbox from Jord! I was contacted a few weeks ago from Justine over at Jord http://www.woodwatches.com, she complemented my blog and asked if I would be interested in reviewing one of their Jord wood watches. I’m saying to myself, while reading her email, “uhhhh heck yeah!” She sent me the link to the Jord website and asked that I look over their collection of watches and the rest is pretty much history in this post!

Now, my husband is “the watch guy”. I look for tend to always look for trendy and unique watches for him all the time to keep his wrist game on fleek. Myself on the other hand… well I’ve been wearing the same watch for the past 5 or 6 years and I’ve been pretty content with that and have the tan line on my wrist to prove it.

Justine over at Jord was kind enough as to send me a wrist ruler so that I can cut it out and measure my wrist to get a decent fit. I think it’s pretty awesome that you can get your watch custom fitted for your wrist. That option is available on the site, so no more watches spinning all over the place. I was given about 6 watch styles to chose from. Boy Oh Boy! It was so hard to choose just one watch style because all of the watches on the site are so nice. I finally narrowed it down and chose the Ely Series Cherry Jord Wood Watch.

On with the review…

My Jord watch watch was packaged nicely in bubble wrap and secured in its nice little watch home AKA a sturdy Jord Wood Box (pictured above).

It was nicely wrapped around a plush Jord Mini Watch Pillow as it traveled all the way from its home base in St. Louis, Missouri all the way to Tallahassee, Florida.

The ELY Series | Cherry | Wood Watch retails at $129.00  http://www.woodwatches.com

My shipment came equipped with the watch of my choice, A social media connect card, an authenticity warranty card and a small baggie with extender pieces (in the event that I eat to many sushi rolls over the next few weeks and gain a few extra pounds.)

Wooden jewelry is so unique! It has this earthly green essence to it which immediately drew me outside, wanting to snap a few pics of it in the grass. You know… wood…grass…trees… Earth… that sorta thing. Isn’t it gorgeous?!

I’ve owned wooden rings, earrings, necklaces but never a wooden timepiece! THIS IS COOL! I’m a research nut so I wanted to know what Jord meant. The Urban Dictionary says that JORD means, “To do an impossible feat with ease.” I also read that it is a Swedish/Norwegian word for Earth, Soil, Dirt or Land. My watch is made of cherry wood but they have watches on the site that are made from harvested and sustainable woods such as bamboo, maple, and sandalwood. The best part about this watch is that the glass is scratch-proof!

These watches are definite treasures and their price ranges are from $120 to about $250 which is clearly a luxury timepiece! This watch isn’t exactly waterproof but who drowns luxury in water? I will definitely make sure to take it off before showering.  I can’t wait to pair my new Jord watch with a cute lil ensemble.

If you’re looking for a unique watch for yourself or that special guy in your life, I’d recommend Jord to you! I’m diggin’ this watch! You might also! Check out the entire Jord collection by visiting http://www.woodwatches.com or browse the trend by searching the hashtag #JORDWATCH on Facebook, Instagram & Twitter!

Disclosurer | This watch was sent to me complimentary by Jord for review purposes but the opinions in this review are solely my own.

Thanks for tuning in!

Spotlight Watch: L.A. Splash Lip Couture Waterproof Liquid Lipsticks

Photo Cred: @juliasallure http://www.juliasallure.com

I saw swatches online and on YouTube of these liquid lipsticks from L.A. Splash and I love them already. I don’t own one and I love them. The pigmentation is outta this universe. They retail at about $11.98 on the L.A. Splash website (www.LAsplashCosmtics.com).

Of course you know that I am on a hunt for the whole collection and I don’t mind spending for it either. I went on eBay and saw a seller selling one of them for twenty-three bucks. “Ummm, NO! Are you freakin’ serious, Get outta here!” People will try to jip you if you let ’em. They come in 18 different colors: Innocent Vixen, Untamed, Poison apple, Till Midnight, Forbidden, Hidden Desires, Rose Garden, Lollipop, Latte Confession, Summer Bliss, Vampire, Criminal, OG Ghoulish, Ghoulish, Phantom, Malevolent, Vindictive, & Venom.

So far, the pros are that they are very pigmented, and long-lasting and they don’t remove from the lips with just a wipe. You have to get yourself a good oil based makeup remover to get them completely off of the lips. L.A. Splash does sell a lip product for removing these liquid lipsticks.

I can’t wait to try one or two or three! I’ll keep you ladies posted when I get my hands on one and I’ll do a dedicated review for you. Until next time!

Surviving the Narcissistic Parent: ACoNs (Adult Children of Narcissists)

I re-blogged this post from The Invisible Scar blog because I am a daughter of a Narcissistic Mother. This post is transparent and maybe someone who is reading this has similar issues with a parent whether mother or father who has narcissistic traits.  It took me many years and a day after Mother’s day this year 2015 to finally come to grips with what it was and why my mother and I have such a strained relationship. The post below really hit home and opened my eyes to a lot of the issues of ups and downs that I have dealt with from my childhood. I have stories upon stories that parallel with this post. My mom doesn’t have the best relationship with her mother and my relationship with my mother isn’t the best, not because I don’t desire one but because I somehow believe my mother is incapable of fully loving me because of her narcissism. There are times when I wouldn’t talk to her for weeks to months at a time, we would start talking again and then the issues start-up again. I never fully feel like she is happy for me for my achievements, so when I accomplish something BIG, I never share those accomplishments with her because, she doesn’t reciprocate the same happiness and will turn and direct the conversation back to herself. Narcissistic people make everything about them and they lack empathy for others. Covert Narcissists appear one way in public but totally different behind closed doors. Narcissists crave constant admiration and validation and they dislike being ignored. The biggest break that I have gotten, was when I dated was dating my husband and we got married. I relocated to another city and state and I was so happy. I finally had my own life and my own space and I was no longer under my mother’s umbrella. Ever since my move I’ve experienced great freedom from her opinions about my life and her constant criticism and disapproval. My life has been so much more peaceful and I now can function as an artist and get things done without being hovered over, fussed at or criticized all the time. Now, don’t read this and think that I don’t love my mother, because I do and there are times when she is cool and easy to deal with. This blog post really breaks down the “common” issues that daughters deal with when they are a product of a narcissistic parent. You may even be reading this and saying, “wow I never even knew this sorta thing existed!” If you googled it, you’d be amazed! You’re probably asking yourself, “…well why are you talking about it now?” Well, being always radiant not only encompasses outer beauty and light but also healing, growing and glowing from within. To do that you have to be aware of issues in your life that can stagnate your freedom and growth and learn to deal, cope and heal from them. You are overcome by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of your testimony. So in order to be free, you have to acknowledge issues and be willing to discuss those dark areas and shed light by sharing your experiences so that you can help others to the path of awareness and healing. I’ve kept mum for years because I couldn’t pinpoint exactly what it was that was affecting our relationship and I would pray and ask God to reveal and I believe He has pointed me in this direction so that I can pray. I know that… “We are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.” [Ephesians 6.12]. I encourage you to pray for your families as well, especially if you feel as though this relates to you and your experience with your parent(s). I’ve somewhat felt liberated to speak about it and nervous because I am talking about my mother. I am a mother and I have a daughter who is two years now and I do not want cycle of control to pour over into my relationship with my daughter. I desire for us to have a healthy mother-daughter relationship. I’m aware that my mother will probably stumble upon this and read this and be upset but this blog is my voice, my outlet and my experience is my experience and I am free to discuss whatever I like on this forum. Sometimes, truth hurts, but I know truth heals also. This past Mother’s Day gave me further revelation of the real issues between my mother and I, simply because she neglected to even call me to say Happy Mother’s Day for whatever reason. I called, both my grandmother and my mother. I spoke to my grandmother for about half an hour and still no word from my mother, as my call was never returned. I’m going to continue to pray for her, while I heal and enjoy my family and my freedom.  There’s a video below that I encourage you to watch and a re-blogged post from The Invisible Scar website for further information of what Narcissism is and how it affects you if you were raised in a home with a narcissist. #GodSpeed #Alwaysradiant #FreedomThruChrist

The Invisible Scar

narcissistic-mothers-smApril is Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention month. At The Invisible Scar, we are focusing on emotional child abuse, such as the various types, how to help emotionally abused children,  resources for healing, adult survivors of emotional child abuse, and the special case of narcissism.

Adult children of narcissistic parents (ACoNs) know a special type of emotional abuse in being raised by narcissists. (Biological mothers, stepmothers, biological fathers, and stepfathers can be N parents.)

Before we discuss the special case of narcissism, please note that not every emotionally abusive parent has the narcissistic personality disorder. In some circumstances, an emotionally abusive parent who is not a narcissist can change and improve his or her parenting.  The same is not true for the narcissistic parent, however. Every narcissistic parent is an emotional abuser.

A narcissist is a person who has the narcissistic personality disorder.

Narcissistic personality disorder is one…

HAULIN’: EBay Beauty Finds For The Low-Low

I am an avid online shopper. I find the most niftiest things online for a fraction of what it would could out at a retail store. One of my main go to sites it’s the infamous eBay because i can get great product dupes shipped from overseas. One of the downsides of ordering from eBay is the wait time when your purchase from a seller from China. Most US sellers don’t have the same product at the same low-cost with free shipping so I always have to wait at least 2-4 weeks to get an item I’ve ordered from eBay.

I want to share with you a few beauty items that I have ordered from eBay. I hope you enjoy this post.

Lash gripper

1. False Eyelash Gripper Tool

I purchased this false eyelash gripper/applicator tool from eBay. It was 0.94 cents with free shipping, and it shipped from a seller from China. For comparison, BH Cosmetics sells their similar tool for $2.95 plus S&H.

brush egg

2. Brush Egg

I purchased my Brush Egg for $1.61 with free shipping from a seller in China. The Original Brush Egg retails anywhere from $15-20. It’s used to assist with cleaning makeup brushes.

Mascara wands

3. Mascara Wands

I purchased these mascara wands from a seller from China at $3.24 with free shipping. I received 100 mascara wands.

For comparison, Sally’s Beauty sells their pack of Face Secrets mascara wands for $3.59 for a pack of 12. You tell me what the better deal is?! #IJS

Real Tech

4. Dupes for Real Technique Brushes

These aren’t the real thing but they do just as good as the Real Technique brushes from Samantha Chapman. I purchased these from a seller from China for $8.79 with $1.65 S&H. The real deal authentic brush sets retail from $17.99 from on ULTA’s website. I have several authentic brushes from the Real Technique’s line but these are good to have in your kit too.

5. Bulk Strip Eyelashes

I purchased a set of 10 pair of lashes for $1.20 with free shipping from a seller from China. I ended up ordering 5 sets of 10 pair so that I can have extra lashes for my kit. You have the option of choosing the styles of eye lashes that you want, ranging from really natural looking lashes to dramatic lashes. This is a great buy because typically lashes can cost $1.99 to $3.99 at my local beauty supply store just for one pair. I run through lashes so this lot on eBay is really neat, especially if you order them in large quantities and are willing to wait at least 3 weeks to receive them.

I like spending money and I also like saving money too, so if I can buy more for less, I usually jump right on it. I’m always doing reviews and looking for dupes of the real thing, trying out products to review them for you all and what I like I keep. What I don’t care too much for I pass it along to someone else who may benefit from it or I usually chuck it in the trash if it’s an absolute flop. Often times I have found that some cheaper beauty products do just as great as the higher price items and there are times when I’ve run into the occasional “you get what you pay for” deal. It’s all trial and error.

I do hope that you’ve enjoyed this list of some of my favorite money-saving eBay splurges. What have you purchased from eBay that was an absolute steal?!

Three Products I love this Month…

Hey beauties!!! We’re midway through the month of November and I just had to share some of my most recent beauty and skincare loves with you all. I enjoy testing and trying different products and regimens to see what’s a smash and what’s a crash. This month I’m sharing three SMASHES in my beauty book! 😁

This first product is holy grail and reigns supreme next to drinking water daily. Drumroll please….

Yup! ALOE! And not the commercial kind that’s mixed with other ingredients,  I’m talking about, you driving to Lowe’s or Home Depot and buying you a small aloe plant. That’s what I did! Growing up in Miami, my grandma had several aloe gardens and anytime we’d get a scratch or a burn she’d slice open an aloe leaf and rub that gooey flesh on the affected area and I promise you we were healed instantly. Well…maybe not instantly but it sure as heck closed minor wounds and helped burns recover almost overnight. The lady even made infused water with it and drank it. *shakes head* I’m not there yet… the taste isn’t great at all and lingers forever…you’ve been warned! The reason I’m listing it as a fave for this month because I had a pimple, and yea a sista still gets those occasional hormonal monsters from time to time.  I needed it gone and I didn’t feel like sifting through the products on the skin care aisle at Target so I went back to my roots *literally* and bought an aloe plant. Best inexpensive decision I made because they require very minimal care and a staple in my household where I have a toddler who ALWAYS has a “boo boo” from falling, result of running full speed through my house. 😕 Well, after I treated that red pulsating goblin on the side of my face it was reduced to a shriveled minute bump, then after a day it was no longer a raised bump. Ayyyyyeee!

Aloe wins the day but don’t take my word for it though… check it out on Pinterest by typing in ALOE and read along to discover Aloe’s many other health benefits, you’ll be amazed!

Turmeric power! I mean powder… can be found at any co-op grocery stores. It’s on my list for the month because turmeric powder mixed into a paste with coconut oil is used as a NATURAL TEETH WHITENER. Heard about it, tried it and here we are today!  So save your coins and put those white strips back on the shelf because if you use this for a week straight… you will see significantly whiter teeth. I did it, I should’ve journaled the experience but I didn’t 😒particularly because I’ve already tortured you all with my braces journey from A to Z, so I’ve spared you all. 😬 Just know that ya girl is/was an avid tea and coffee drinker and those beverages over time will stain your teeth, but our dear and gracious God has created things on this earth that can remedy the yellowest of teeth if you’d only use them and be consistent with it… thank me later.

Garnier Skin Active Micellar Cleansing Water!!!

I particularly like the Garnier brand, and I have both the pink and blue labeled bottles. They assist majorly with getting rid of face paint and stubborn eye makeup. I’m not a fan of tugging around the eye area when washing my face because I don’t want premature aging and bags around my eyes so I need a makeup remover that’s gonna remove all my waterproof liners and mascara with gentle swipes and this is it! It doesn’t burn my eyes, is not all oily like other makeup removers. It also gets rid of that hard to remove matte lipstick that we all love so much. Thanks Garnier! I don’t want to scrub half my face off just to get it clean and this is a winner in my book! See Target or Walmart and try it for yourself.

Try some of this stuff out for yourself and comeback and let me know how it worked out for you, I’d love to hear your feedback!

Until next time!💋
