PRIME TIME Alert: Monistat Chafing Relief Powder Gel as a Foundation Primer

Now, I had already known about this drugstore jewel so I decided to share it with you guys. A friend of mine on Facebook asked me what type of primer would I recommend for woman with large pores (oily skin). The first thing that came to mind was the Monistat Chafing Relief Powder Gel. “This stuff is AMAZING!! (in my Oprah voice)” and I carry it in my kit for clients and for myself as well. This product is comparable to higher end Primers such as  MACs Prep + Prime and SmashBox’s Photo Finish. From my personal opinion… I have Combination/Oily skin in the warmer months and this does great when used with my foundation and setting powder in keeping my face relatively matte all day. Most people would get a litle shy with the thought of putting ‘vaginal cream’ on their faces… and if you are a Makeup Artist and you don’t want to alarm your clients you can simply squeeze the entire tube into a labeled separate jar. Persoanlly,  don’t mind. To apply… all you need is a pea-sized amount and this product does great in filling in fine lines and large pores.

Pros:

* You get a full sized amount of primer for a fraction of the price… Mine was purchased from Target for   about $5 or 6. While the high-end stuff is about 3 to 4 times the price. (insert eye roll here).
*It has a velvetly smooth texture and feels amazing on the face.
*It has a very pleasant smell, but I would assume that it should because it was originally intended for vaginal region usage. (giggles)
*Works as an eyeshadow primer to prevent creasing
*Hides fine lines and pores so that you can have a flawless foundation finish.
*Non-greasy, dries to a matte finish.
*The active ingredient is Dimethicone, which can be found in all high-end face primers. It’s a silicone based emollient that forms a protective barrier on the skin to help retain moisture.
*Helps foundations glide and applu easily

I would like to issue a small warning to those with sensitive or acne-prone skin or alleric to Dimethicone or Silica…. Use with caution! Since individuals with acne-prone skin tend to breakout when the wind blows… (kidding).. you have to use extreme caution for you apply anything to your face.

Lately, my routine has been to thoroughly wash my face and pat it dry with a microfiber towel. I would then apply my oil-free moisturizer and apply a thin layer of Milk of Magnesia (MoM) to my face and make sure I spread it evenly to prevent white streaks and aloow it to dry completely. I would then apply a pea-sized amount of Monistat Chafing Relief Powder Gel to my face and apply my foundation as usual. The end results is just BEATFACE history!

I give this product a 5 star rating!
