Review: WEN by Chaz Dean (Compliments of Influenster)

Let me introduce to you a new product that I received from my friends over at Influenster. This product is called WEN by Chaz Dean. It’s a 5 in 1 conditioner from the heavens. I recently took out some small braids that were braided up into a mohawk-like style with my natural hair. I was in dire need of a wash and deep condition might I mention. I reached for my WEN while in the shower as this was my first application of this products and ladies…. I fell in love.  Being a natural kinky coily sistah… I’m no stranger to the usage of all natural and organic products. This baby right here is great because not only is it natural but it does NOT contain parabens, sulfates and other damaging detergents. WEN is a 5-in-1 formula, this one product takes the place of your shampoo, conditioner, deep conditioner, detangler and leave-in conditioner. Just in case you didn’t hear allow me to repeat myself… “A 5-in-1 formula, this one product takes the place of your shampoo, conditioner, deep conditioner, detangler and leave-in conditioner.” *passes out on the floor* I’ve been looking for an authentic, yet natural multipurpose product for this afro for quite sometime now and gee-golly, I have it!

According to WEN: “It cleanses hair thoroughly but without lathering and all the harsh ingredients that may be found in ordinary shampoos—it is designed so it won’t strip your hair and scalp of their natural oils. Your hair is left with sheen, moisture, manageability and better color retention.”

My review: Okay… so after I too those tiny braids out I detangled the remaining twist and parted my hair in four sections, securing 3 sections with a clip and leaving on section out to start. I wet my hair with luke-warm water while standing in the shower and applied about 5 pumps of WEN Cleansing Conditioner to the first section. *Hair Harmony Began* This product didn’t lather like other shampoos lived used in the past and I am familiar with shampoos that do not contain sulfates because they initially do not have lather effect. My hair was still getting cleansed though. The smell was pleasant, it gave off a nice nutty, minty scent similar to peppermint or tea tree oil. My curls immediately took to this product and my hair began to feel soft, detangling was a breeze and my scalp was also a breeze too because it left a cooling sensation on my scalp able due to the mint or maybe the chamomile. My hair was left more manageable, soft and it didn’t feel dry at all. Here is a brief overview of what’s inside.

Glycerin: provides moisturizing benefits to the hair. One of the best humectants and has natural moisturizing properties.
Chamomile Extract: designed to help add sheen and highlights. Used for its soothing, calming properties.
Cherry Bark: designed to bring out color, shine & softness in all shades of natural and color-treated hair. Formulated to help with the manageability of your hair.
Rosemary Extract: designed to condition, tone and strengthen hair. Is an invigorating toner and astringent.
Panthenol: helps to promote and restore resilience. A penetrating moisturizer that plumps the hair shaft to make it appear thicker. Designed to reduce split ends, smooth, strengthen and seal in moisture.
Sweet almond oil: designed to contribute conditioning and glide to hair, as well as a conditioned feel to the skin. Softens, soothes and is an excellent moisturizer for the hair.

WEN is sold as a 30-day hair care system that includes Cleansing Conditioner, Styling Creme, Hair Treatment, Texture Balm & Comb! <—-WHAT A PACKAGE!
