Evening Primrose Oil

Today I wanted to talk about a supplement that I had in my cubby for quite a while now. I’m kinda slacked in taking these supplements because it was out of sight, out of mind being tucked away in my pantry. The supplements that I am talking about is Evening Primose Oil. It sounds feminine huh? Well, allow me to provide you with some basic information about Evenin’ Primrose Oil, or EPO.  Evening primrose is a plant flower native to North America, but it grows in Europe and parts of the Southern hemisphere as well. It has yellow flowers that bloom in the evening. Evening primrose oil contains gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), an essential fatty acid. Essential fatty acids are required by the body for growth and development, and must be obtained from the diet. [1]

EPO is said to cure, treat and prevent the symptoms and side effects of eczema and other skin disorders, rheumatoid arthritis, conditions affecting women’s health such as premenstrual syndrome (PMS), breast pain associated with the menstrual cycle and contraceptive use, and hot flashes in menopausal women. EPO is also used to treat symptoms related to diabetes and cancer.

EPO is extracted from the plant flower, Evening Primrose and the oil in placed in capsules/tablets for oral ingestion.
My reason for purchasing this was because I began suffering from premenstrual cramping and I wanted something natural that I can take to prevent it instead of popping 800mg ibuprofen all the time. When I was taking the supplements regularly I did notice that I wasn’t in pain every month and the other symptoms such as irritability also was alleviated. I recommend that you do your research if you decide to take any supplement and make sure to follow the manufacturer’s directions. You can purchase this supplement wherever vitamins and dietary supplements are sold. I got mine from Walmart. I hope this was useful to you. God Bless.
